Session task 1: Children's book design for:

Babies and toddlers, 0-2 years old.

- They usually contain not very long text, text tends to be written in verse and it rhymes.
- They are usually interactive. Pop-outs and even magnets for children to play with.
- They are educative and are meant to be read by parents to their kids.
- Very visual, typography is carefully selected.
- There is usually different textures present.

Examples: Giraffes can't dance/ Peppa Pig.

Children aged 3-6 years old.

- They're very repetitive so that children can anticipate what's gonna happen.
- Characters are often happy and show a smile.
- We start to see a few books about more complex subjects such as geography, history and science even if very basic.
- They are still very visual too.

Examples: The Gruffalo/ Day monkey, Night monkey / See inside space.

Children aged 9-11 years old.

- They're more educative and serious, start to see books about maths and growing up problems.
- They have more complex story lines than the previous age ranges.

Examples: Maths made easy.
